Bing Bong

Story of the Day

An Open Letter to Richard Branson,

Virgin Trains

The web site was very easy to use, extremely functional and tickets were easy to come by. The train station was clean and well laid out, with more than adequate information posted, it was easy to find the platform, where my train would be departing. The train arrived right on time, the inside was spotless, the stewards well groomed and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive.  The seats were comfortable and the space was well thought out, functional and reasonably appealing. The food was served, along with drinks in a timely manor. I applaud the remarkable turn around of the train service and the speed at which it conducts it's business. I am also a Virgin Atlantic fan and was an early enthusiast when it raised the bar for air travel. I also dislike people who complain about one thing, when there are so many positives to be encouraged by. However in this case, I would like to ever so gently ask Virgin Trains to test the public address system in each carriage, perhaps the Bing Bong could be changed to a Dumph, Dumph. The decibel level was ear piercing, the staff seemed to be amused by it and anyone attempting to sleep would be jolted up right, Bing Bong. The next station is Lancaster. The lady playing cards off to my left was particularly agitated, she seemed to get spooked every time Bing Bong would pollute the air. Perhaps a decent acoustic engineer and a slight change to the introduction notes would make the Virgin Train experience go from really good to great and I could get some shut eye on my next trip. Let me know your thoughts.
